Youth & Family Ministries

St. Mark’s is a multigenerational parish, with the youngest of infants and seasoned seniors and all ages in between. Though there are several single people at St. Mark’s, we also have many families with children and youth. These younger members of our church are not just the future of the church, they are the church now, engaged in a variety of ministries and integrated into the life of the parish. Youth are involved in leading worship as Greeters, Readers, Acolytes, Bread Bakers and in Music Ministry. Through Youth Group and Sunday School, young people are involved in outreach, service and stewardship. Families will feel at home at St. Mark’s.

However, there are several ministries that support children and their parents in particular:

Nursery

Our Nursery begins at 10:30 AM Sunday mornings, and runs to noon (during summer, from 9:30 until 11:00 AM). Please note that the nursery is available at 9:30 in the Parish house during Christian Formation. Though all infants and children of all ages are welcome for all of the worship service, the Nursery offers an age-appropriate alternative for infants and toddlers, offering some parents a more full experience of Christian Formation programs that begin at 9:30, worship that begins at 10:30, and fellowship time until noon. The Nursery is a clean and orderly space staffed by two adult volunteers and equipped with age-appropriate toys and furnishings for infant and toddler care. The Nursery is in the lower level of the church building. For more information about the Nursery, contact the parish office (610-942-2365), or contact Matt Clayton. [top of page]

Sunday School

Sunday School for preschool through 5th grade begins at 9:30 in the Parish House (the yellow house across the street; Sunday Study for older youth and adults also meets there). Sunday School engages children in the knowledge & love of the Lord through experiencing the Bible stories and the church's worship of God. For more information about Sunday School, contact the parish office (610-942-2365), or contact Marnie Ohs. [top of page]

Sunday Study

The Sunday Study involves lessons and discussion on various topics. We study such topics as the church--its history and worship, Islam, Christian Parenting, End of Life issues, introductions to the Bible, studies of Bible books and more. For more information on the Sunday Study, contact Tom Pumphrey at the parish office [click here to email], and click “Sermons and Notes” on the left to download some of the discussion notes. Children’s Chapel

Children’s Chapel is an age appropriate version of the first half of worship for children pre-school through 4th grade. Children's Chapel begins at 10:30 and lasts until the passing of the peace at ~11:00. The kids then join their parents upstairs in our main worship for communion. This program is an engaging parallel to the Liturgy of the Word: a creative sharing of the Biblical story told in that Sunday’s main worship service, and a time of shared prayer. Children’s Chapel meets in the lower level of the church building. For more information about Children’s Chapel, contact the parish office (610-942-2365), or contact Kim Bencker.[top of page]
